Halloween 'To Do' List

It can be a little hard to get into the Halloween spirit the older you get so I thought I'd write a little list of all the things you could do to celebrate it!

01. Halloween film marathon. This probably comes as no surprise if you've been keeping up to date with the latest series on my blog, where I share all of my favourite Halloween films. Whether it's a scary film like Insidious or something much more light-hearted such as Hocus Pocus, there is nothing more I love to do on Halloween than have a movie marathon, snuggled all up with the fairy lights on and candles lit.

02. Throw a Halloween themed party. In Halloween movies, people throw the most amazing spooky themed parties and I've always wanted to throw one myself but from my experience, people my age just use them as an excuse to get very, very drunk and as I'm not someone that drinks that much anymore,  I feel like this is something I'll do when I have children so I can be that extra, over-the-top Mum that goes all out on Halloween!

03. Trick or Treat. And on the subject of children; if you have any children or siblings, nieces or nephews, you could take them Trick or Treating. As we saw in Hocus Pocus, taking younger children Trick or Treating can feel a bit lame when you're older but I feel like it would also fill you with so much nostalgia of when you used to go. If you don't have any children yourself, maybe make sure you buy lots of sweets to give out to the Trick or Treaters that visit your home.

04. Bake Halloween treats. This became a little tradition of mine and I did it every single year, without fail and it made me so excited choosing what to bake each year but as I'm currently dieting, I'll give it a miss this year *sob, sob* If you're stuck on what to bake, head over to Pinterest, they have so many amazing recipes.

 05. Go to a pumpkin patch. Although it's totally fine to get your pumpkins from your local supermarket, it feels so much more magical going to an actual pumpkin patch and picking out the best ones (and Instagramming the occasion).

06. Attend a Halloween event. If you want to get more into the Halloween spirit this year, search for which events are taking place locally to you. If you still need a little inspo, I posted a list yesterday of 10 events to attend this Halloween

07. Decorate pumpkins. Is it even Halloween before you've decorated your pumpkins? Nope. This is one of my favourite parts of Halloween and gives me so much nostalgia. If you don't fancy carving the typical scary face onto them, you could always paint them, cover them in glitter or put flowers inside them!

07. Make Halloween themed cocktails. If you're having a Halloween party or just having a movie marathon with friends, make some Halloween themed cocktails. Head to Pinterest for some inspo.

08. Decorate. And finally, my favourite thing to do... Decorate your home (or room) with all things Halloween.

Whatever you end up doing, I hope you have the best time!
