What's On In London: November 2017

What's On In London November 2017

Cinema fan? Then you'll love the Backyard Cinema! It's a themed cinematic experience and currently, you can either visit the Winter Night Garden which is located on Clapham Common as a part of the Winterville Festival or The Snow Kingdom which is located in Borough, South London as a part of the Italian Market - Mercato Metropolitano. As soon as I saw the magical Narnia inspired wardrobe you walk through to get to the Winter Night Garden, I was immediately sold! And the films that they're playing are perfect to get you in the festive mood, such as Home Alone; Elf; Love Actually; The Holiday; Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas, to name a few. Book tickets asap though as they're selling incredibly fast!

One of the best things about the festive period is watching all the Christmas lights get switched on, right? And London's lights are always absolutely incredibly stunning! List of dates and more information here!

The popular rooftop bar 'Skylight' has transformed, just in time for the festive season into a rooftop ice skating rink. Alongside the rink, you'll also find festive drinks, fondue, street food, DJs and the odd game of ice hockey. Ice skating whilst taking in the incredible London views, what's not to love?

Remember that scene in the film 'About Time (2013)' where they go to a restaurant and everything, from serving to dining is all in complete darkness? This is a very similar concept but a bar, instead of a restaurant. I'm not sure myself but if you could meet a Domhnall Gleeson type, I'll be booking my tickets right away! Tickets are £39 each and sessions last for 90 minutes; included with the ticket, you'll also receive a glass of Prosecco on arrival and four cocktails or wines once in the darkness.

Head to Syon Park for its annual 'Enchanted Woodland' where you'll see the 600-year-old gardens transformed into a magnificent light display and take the magical walk through the beautiful woodland, it's bound to get you in the festive spirit! The attraction is loved by many and tickets sell pretty fast, as it's only on for a short time of the year.

Looking for something festive yet child-friendly to do this November? What could be better than attending the biggest toy parade London has ever seen?? On the 19th November, the Hamleys Toy Parade returns for its third consecutive year, which will see Regent Street completely transformed and full to the brim of your favourite characters from TV and film; as well as marching bands, festive floats, street theatre, dancers and toy vehicles accompanied with music from Magic Radio. Aside from the parade, there are always tons of activities available to do as well. Last year, Sky Movies even provided a bus where visitors could watch festive movies during the event. It starts at 11am but be sure to get there early to get a good view!

Willy Wonka fans, get ready to be excited! Hotel 'One Aldwych' have put together the most perfect Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired afternoon tea, which is ideal for the festive season. The menu includes the usual afternoon tea favourites: such as warm scones, finger sandwiches and savoury quiches but it's the sweet treats that we all adore, right? From a golden chocolate egg filled with vanilla cheesecake and mango to the homemade candyfloss, white chocolate cake pops and chocolate caramel milk, to the cocoa bean financiers, blueberry brioches and Eton mess; it sounds absolutely divine. You can then choose from either a selection of teas and yes, they even have chocolate tea! Or, you could opt for the alcoholic option and have a glass of champagne or a "Cocktail Charlie", which is made from whisky, a cherry liqueur, chocolate bitters, grapefruit juice, cherry syrup and topped with champagne. The tea itself costs £44 per adult and £29 per child under 12.

Hyper Japan is back from the 24th - 26th November for its seventh year running; with a Christmas market that celebrates the fabulous Japanese culture and cuisine. Here you'll find a whole range of Japanese performers, special guests, exhibits, food stalls, creative workshops and all the kawaii gifts you could want. There will also be live performances, a festival of light showcasing the stunning Japanese craft art that is used in the historic 'matsuri' festivals and how they've modernised them with the latest technology, as well as the 'ramen experience' where you can try four different options and vote for your favourite and the very popular Sake Cocktail awards are back for another year!

An Instagrammers dream, I'm sure. Fancy snuggling up in an igloo with cosy blankets, whilst sipping festive cocktails and taking in the stunning London views? Now's your chance! Get booking asap, as I hear these sell out pretty quickly. (If tickets do sell out, not to worry, as Jimmy's Lodge are also doing a pretty similar concept, with all the mulled wine and fondue you could ask for!)

How does having a 5-course festive feast on an old London Underground carriage sound? Now, I do think this is probably a commuters worst nightmare, take it from someone who used to work in London, I couldn't think of anything worse...but I can imagine this to be something a tourist would love. Tickets start at £49.
